In practice, the contents of the first variable are assigned to the second and vice versa, in a single operation. The ''SWAP'' command makes code more concise and readable by avoiding the use of a temporary variable for swapping. Since swapping elements is a fundamental operation in many sorting algorithms, such as bubble sort, it is important that it is an efficient operation. Infact, actually performs a similar operation at the assembly level, more efficiently and hidden from the programmer. The ''SWAP'' operation can only be used with variables of the same bit width (in case of numeric type) or the same type (if strings). ==== EXAMPLE ==== a = 42 : b = 84 AT a, b PRINT a, b ==== ABBREVIATION ==== Swp ==== AVAILABLE ON ==== ==== SEE ALSO ==== [[AT]] ==== ANY PROBLEM? ==== If you have encountered a problem using this command, if you think there is a bug or the explanation is unclear, please [[https://github.com/spotlessmind1975/ugbasic/issues/new?title=ISSUE ON SWAP|open an issue]] for this keyword on GitHub.
